Dr. Freddie Ann Hoffman of the American Council on Ferret Health, Welfare
and Policy has created a letter you can give your vet to encourage
her/him to write to the USDA encouraging them to develop ferret specific
regulations.
 
Be sure to let your vet know s/he can write as much or little as s/he
has time for; we don't want to discourage writing because they don't
have time for a long response!
