I am constantly being asked, as a breeder, to help with kits that bite.
I have learned to have the people bring their ferret over and then we talk
while the ferret plays. Eventually I notice one prevailing thing: the
owner is causing the ferret to bite! They rough house, tease and speak
excitedly continually stirring up the young kit to a higher and higher
pitch of excitement. When the kit finally bites, it can often be very
hard. Owners of young kits should learn to handle them gently, calmly
and speak quietly to them. A few months of handling in this way assures
a companion that does not even know what biting is. That does not mean
one cannot play with the kit, but use a toy or sock or something other than
you hands to excite the ferret. Also give them time to calm down before
expecting them to give you kisses. If you are having a problem with a
biting kit, please check and see what YOU are doing.

This has nothing to do with a biting adult ferret!
