Barn Ferrets:

The first place I ever saw ferrets was in a barn in Maryland. When I was
young, I was in Pony Club and one of the other members had ferrets, instead
of cats, in their barn to catch mice. The owner said that they did a
better job than cats do. They were not particularly mean, just skiddish
around people. This person also had ferrets as house pets and they were as
sweet and loving as any of our fuzzies.

Giving pills:

The best solution I have found for giving pills is ripping a raisin in half
and sticking the pill inside. Most ferrets I've seen never even know that
it's there.

Missing socks:

When I moved into my apartment six months ago, I threw away all of my
miss-matched socks. I thoroughly ferret-proofed my apartment so that there
were no hiding places that Sarah could get into that I couldn't.
Nevertheless, I now have about 10 socks without mates. Sarah is always
extremely careful to make sure that she never puts both socks of a pair in
the same hiding place, but I thought I knew all of the hiding places. I
know that when I move out, I will find some secret stash of socks somewhere.
{heavy sigh}

Caroline (Sarah's well-trained pet)
