He everyone! There's been some talk lately about travel bags. I
thought I'd share mine and see if anyone has some "upgrade" ideas.

We've got 5 ferrets that DON'T like to be seperated. Some people talk about
taking 1 or 2 of their 5 or 6 out for a walk. Boy would we be in trouble if
we did that. We'd get the sappy eyes, sulking & pouting from the left out
ones all night! I had to take our youngest to the vet one morning by
herself, and she looked like a lost child! She hoovered in the corner of the
bag and when I brought her out - she clung to me just like a baby. She
buried her head in my neck and had her little paws clutched on to my neck.
She's not like this when she's got the other 4 with her. When I returned hom
and walked in the door with her - all four of them just stared at me, then
turned and walked away! They normally all will greet me by coming up to me
and at LEAST sniffing my feet! Boy, talk about touchy.

Anyway, we started out with 2 ferrets. We bought a back-pack and cut a half
circle mesh window at the top of the bag for them. This worked well, as we
just put a small pan on the floor. It seemed a little crammed in there, even
with two because the pan took up most of the floor & needless to say, they'd
sit, lay and stand in the USED litterbox. So we went out and bought a duffle
bag. The pan fits in one end and it gives them semi-ok room at the other
end. The only problem with that is that it is so BULKY and heavy. I hear
about people taking there ferrets out in a shoulder bag, but this thing is
just way to bulky to carry around like a purse or something.

I've even thought of making my own bag to accomodate my needs, but I don't
know where to begin. I really liked the back-pack idea. Very convenient and
easy to tote around. Its just not big enough for our 5 girls *&* a litter
pan. If I could make one, I'd make it wider across (shoulder to shoulder) and
wider in width (back to front). It would be ideal to make a compartment for
food & toys...in 1/3 of the bag, leaving the space under it for a litter box:

Maybe one day I'll get around to it and I'll let everyone know how it
turns out. If any of you are sewers and have every tried your had at
some kind of bag or purse, let me know! I'd love to get ideas.
