In reference to Karen Vance's dilemma:

When Polar bear was a baby (10/94), she was sleeping with me on a couch -
she got up looked around and proceeded to pee on me. Later she pooped on
the same couch. Fortunately, I caught her in the act. The couch was the
only area she knew besides the cage. She was so small, she didn't even
know how to get down from the couch. It didn't take long for me to learn
that when she's frantic to get her back to the cage quick! Until she
learned the layout of the apt, I paid careful attention esp when she was
in bed with me. When there young...it happens. It's part of the Ferret
experience. Both of my girls have been on the mark for the most part.
That is until lately...

On 7/15/95 my SO told me that she was moving out. She's been gone since
7/29/95. When she left she took "Her" two ferrets, Pooper and Wompy.
Besides having to get over the separation anxiety myself. I have to deal
with ferret feelings...and they're certainly showing me how they feel.
Maggie's taken to going in the middle of carpet while staring right at me.
Polar is finding every corner a new challenge. When where not pooping
their moping or checking all of the old spots looking for their friends
(Human and Ferret). When I come home from work and open the cage they
don't even want to come out. They just lay in the hammock staring at me
looking depressed. Eventually, Maggie will come out, find me and just
curl up besides me. She never did this before. Maybe she's trying to
comfort me...

I know that they have feelings. For instance when Pooper was sick with an
adrenal tumor (See Issue 1176) Maggie was so empathic. She would follow
him around, snuggle and just be with him. Like she knew. Pooper survived
surgery and is doing better that ever. A lot of emotion was expended when
we thought we were going to lose him. But wompy and he are gone. At least
I know they have a good home and are with a good person.

Suggestions on how to cheer the little girls up would be appreciated.

BTW you may consider this to be an impromptu personal ad. I'm available. :)
Any Ferret lovers in the area interested in meeting Polar bear, Maggie, &
myself, send me e-mail.

[Moderator's note: I can envision the FML looking like this soon:
"34 yo SWM, ECE- household, 2F MF BEW weasels. Let's get together and
watch Beastmaster while they dook it out and share our Nutrical." :-) BIG]
