Hi All,
My 5 year old male, CJ has been scratching so much that he has lost hair on
his neck and shoulders. Back in July we had a flea problem here which was
odd because they barely leave the house unless it's to go to the vet s,
and they don't have contact with other animals. Anyways, CJ seem to have
the worse reaction to the fleas and that's when he started losing his hair.
I know it's not adrenal related because he had a successful adrenalectomy
about a year ago. The flea problem is long gone but he is still
scratching. I brought him to the vet and she has had me give him
prednizone (sp?). He has been on that for awhile now and so far nothing
has changed. I brought him out yesterday morning to play and in the middle
of the night he had scratched so bad that his now bare skin was covered
with awful scratches and scabs. The vet did a skin scrape a few weeks ago
and it turned up nothing. His two cage mates don't seem to be having this
problem.

Could it be allergies? Any ideas? Someone mentioned to me that an Aveeno
bath might help. Is this safe? He is going back to the vet this week but
I wanted to run it by you all first and see if anyone else has had this
happen.

On a lighter note, my little girl Cindy had a successful adrenalectomy this
morning. Our vet removed a big ugly tumor from her left adrenal gland and
it is being sent for a biopsy. There was also one in her pancreas. She is
recovering quite nicely and I get to pick her up this evening. I want to
thank Anastasia Kidd for her kind words in her email to me. I felt a lot
better this morning after dropping Cindy off. I'm so grateful this list
exists. I think I'd be lost without all of you and this list!!!

Thanks!

Jennifer (the puzzled one), CJ (the itchy one), Cindy (the adrenal free
one), and Petey, (the healthy one)
