I have a female ferret that is between the ages of 5 and 7 (previous owners
unsure of age). She has been losing weight, no c/s/v/d. Barium shows
nothing abnormal, although the initial x-ray showed extremely thickened
intestines. She is not painful on palpation, she is eating, poops look
normal.

CBC showed:
WBC 8.02 (5 - 11.6), Lym 50% (24 - 64), Mon 3.3% (1.5 - 8),
Gra 46.7% (29 - 65), Lym# 4, Mon# 0.26, Gra# 3.73,
RBC 6.60 (8.3 - 10.2), MCV 54.9 (49 - 60), Hct 36.2 (45 - 55),
MCH 20.4 (15 - 21), MCHC 37.2 (27 - 39), RDW 8.5 (8 - 12),
Hb 13.5 (14.2 - 18.8), PLT 273 (370 - 870), MPV 7.1 (0 - 1),
Pct 0.19, PDW 8.3 (6 - 10)

Chemistry showed (by this point, she had fasted about 6 hours):
ALB 2.3, ALP 23,  ALT 136,  AMY 24, TBIL <0.1, BUN 17,  CA++ 6.7, CHOL 167,
CRE 0.4, GLU 116, K+ 5.0, TP 6.2, GLOB 4.0, HEM 0, LIP +1, ICT 0.

When the Dr. looked at the initial x-ray, the first word out of his mouth
was the Big L and I asked him if the only way to detect L was via biopsy
(don't want to piss off a Dr. by *saying* the only way...) and he agreed.
With the lymphocytes in the normal range, he suggested putting her on pred
to see how she does. Why is she anemic and why is she losing protein?
Any other differentials would be greatly appreciated.
