You might remember Sierra, who went thru adrenal surgery a little over a
month ago. Some strange things have been happening with her lately that
I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on.

About 2 weeks ago, she started sneezing a little more than usual, then
over the past few days, started crying and whimpering in her sleep. We
took her to the emergency animal hospital the other night because she
was acting slightly disoriented (dizzy, stumbling a little) as well as
whimpering and crying while trying to go to sleep, and in her sleep.
The vet checked her thorughly, said that she would be ok until morning,
because we had a followup exam scheduled for her after the adrenal
surgery for the next morning. That morning, we took her to the
specialist, who said that he wasn't as familiar with the symptoms, as he
was simply a surgery specialist, and that we should ask our local vet
(but that none of the problems that she was having was a side effect of
her adrenal surgery).

So, off we go to our local vet, who was gracious enough to see us on
little notice (3 vets in less than 24 hrs!). She examined Temper and
Sierra (Temper was also making the whimpering noises in her sleep) and
concluded that they had the flu (my boyfriend recently had the flu, and
although we were very careful to wash hands, not let him near them, etc,
they evidently got it from him). She gave us some herbal remedies, which
we have been giving them religiously.

But here is my main concern, she was acting fine, had started to beef
up a little (she hadn't gained back any of her weight from the adrenal
surgery yet, even though we've tried Bob Church's Chicken Gravy, a/d
diet, etc, she is a picky little bugger), when tonight, she started
stumbling a little with her back legs, and when we picked her up to see
if she was ok, she started coughing a bit, and salivating. We've since
put her up to rest (with close observation), and are waiting for a call
back from the emergency vet.

My question is: is this related to the adrenal surgery? Is salivating a
bit a sign of the flu? My other concern is that we just introduced our
rescued ferret, Yukai (tested for any diseases). But we only let them
play briefly, and they don't sleep together. Yukai is much younger and
likes to pounce on Temper and Sierra to try to play (Temper mainly), but
we take her away, and one of us will play with her while the other plays
with the older girls (and then switch out). What is going on with my
baby? Any insight will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Reagan, Ashley, Temper, Yukai, Zara (the cat)
