Concerning the sticky situation I agree with keeping on the police report
and the police are there to serve the public regardless of what the crime
is.  Also try the humane society or anti-cruelty agency in the area on the
malnourished ferret.
 
There is also another ferret sighting in the movies.  My son was watching
the Disney channel when they had a movie "The Ewok Adventure" when he saw a
ferret.  It is shown in the beginning of the movie and again at the end.  It
was a cute little guy.  It wasn't just a glimpse either.  The movie itself
wasn't that great, but the ferret was a hit in our house.
