Hi all.
I thought maybe I'd ramble a little since its been
ages since my last ramble.  Maybe I'll even have
something worthwhile to say :)
 
All of our ferrets appear healthy and happy.  They're
all due for a vet visit soon so we'll get confirmation
one way or another.
 
Let me take this opportunity to plug my vet.  He name's
Dr. Joanne Buehner, Green Meadows Veterinary Hospital,
127 Green Meadows Drive S.,  Westerville, OH 43023.
she's in very southern Delaware County, just north
of Columbus, OH (No-ferret zone scourge of OH).
She's fantastic! She like's ferrets, and treats us like
intelligent beings who just might know a thing or two
about the pysiology and health care needs of our
animals. It probably doesn't hurt that she sees
many of Linda Harrah's ferrets and knows that we get
info from Linda.  But anyway, I highly recommend her
for anybody in the area (and there probably a few of
you lurking anonymously).
 
There's a vet here in Granville we use sometimes for
convenience. I've never actually met Dr. Wagner, and
his staff has a running joke with Marya that I don't
really exist.  He sees all the ferrets that the local
Petland gets in, and they give his card out when you buy
a ferret from them.
 
So far we've got two from that store, Grover whom I fell
immediatly in love with in the store, and wouldn't leave
without :)  And Simon Bar Sinister whom we resued from
some certain slow horrible torture.  He's actually from
the same litter as Grover.  He's progressed remarkably
well considering he'd had no love from his first owner,
and was abused and injured by them.  He still doesn't
like to play with the other ferrets and seems happiest
when he's under the hope chest scratching the carpet :)
He's losing his gut (I wish I could claim the same :) ),
and he's learning to stand up in the Official Begging
Ferret Position.  He's a sweetheat, with random fits of
(wholly understandable) paranoia.
Add my vote to list of people who think rescue is a good
way to get a new ferret.  Its very fulfilling.
 
Davey was back from Indianna for a couple of days, and stayed
with us for neutering and recovery. He leads a charmed life,
weaking havoc (he's 4+ pounds @ six months) and harassing
his humans' two cats.  Davey was that special singing ferret.
So I think that from now on, aside from rescue work, we'll
be getting our ferrets from Linda Harrah - Breeder of singing
ferrets.
