I was going to send a reply to Cindy concerning Ivermectin dosage/use in
her ferrets, but I see that Susan Brown is on the line. I believe she
is the authority here! I have not yet decided whether or not to dose my
own animals year-round (I live in Texas).

To Rochelle and her licking ferrets. I think you are noticing the licking
because, being ill, you are holding still! They also seem to be interested
in all the neat noises we make when sick. However, I have one 2 year old
male that from 12 weeks old would lick my face for hours if given the
chance! My other male has a particular preference for licking forearms
and my female, sniffing ears (which I understand is REALLY common)!!!

I have read several accounts of ferrets and dogs and cats living
harmoniously but I have acquired the one breed that is not apt to get along--
a Scottish terrier. I have had him since he was 10 weeks old; his
parents were excellent ratters. When he was small I didn't worry since
he was 3 pounds. He is now almost 5 months old and I decided to only
worry about him keeping a healthy RESPECT for the ferrets. My female
is no match for him at only slightly over a pound!
