Thanks, Monica, for your encouragement - I have been diligent about checking
the Humane Society, pet stores et al for a captured ferret, still looking for
my own Tiki and also thinking about adoption.  However, here in Michigan, the
Humane Society is still out of touch on the ferret issue - also, they only
keep lost pet reports for a month.
 
Tiki was ear-tatooed, I got her that way from the pet store. I've never
heard of an "INFO-Pet microchip implant" though - what is it? Is it
really safe for a ferret?
