I am not fluent in ASL, although I did pick up a good bit working with
the Diocese several years back.  Last I knew, the sign for "ferret" was
to hold your left arm at an angle (like it is in a sling or something)
and curve the front two fingers of your right hand (like a ferret is,
you know??) and "hop" it up your left arm.
 
Now, don't take this as gospel.  This info is several years old and could
very well be wrong.....(they haven't given me title "infallible" yet and
I doubt they do......).  To be absolutely certain, I would contact a
local organization for the deaf.  They should be listed in your yellow
pages, or contact your local Catholic Charities office for a referral to
one.
 
And to Andrew.........CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!  That is an awesome way to
safeguard your little weasel friends AND your furniture..... Way to go!
