I just thought you guys would get a kick out of this. This happened a few
months ago, before I headed out to CA for vacation, but it's still pretty
funny.

I have two friends from college who've never been exposed to ferrets.
I invited them over and gave them fair warning that they are very
rambunctious and playful and can seem overwhelming to people who've never
played with ferrets before. Susan and Kris both were excited anyway and
assured us they thought they could handle it.

They came over and we woke everyone up for a rippin' rompin' good time.
The ferrets made me proud, because they were in rare form. Everyone was
running and jumping and having a good time. I would allow them to put the
ferrets on the bed to play if they kept an eye on them, so Kris put Orion
on the bed and was pushing him around on his back. I said something to her
and she turned around to talk to me. I noticed Orion about to jump, so I
put her attention back to him. When she turned around, he did a spread
eagle leap of death straight for her! He landed with his belly to her
chest and was hanging on to her shirt at the shoulders. You would have
thought a poisonous viper got her! She screamed and he did that open mouth
head whipping thing which made him lose control and he let go. I caught
him, so he didn't hit the ground, but you could tell he was VERY proud of
scaring the snot out of her. I put him down and he just bounced away into
a ferret pileup in the hall.

When everyone began to calm down, we began just hanging out in the hall and
chatting. Some were still playing and some were just laying around soaking
up the human love. Luna, my oldest and biggest baby ferret wanted to be
held. She'll let you cradle her, so Susan was holding her in her arms.
Susan was holding Luna a little lower than I usually do, so Luna was rested
up under her boob. Kris looked over and said, "Oh my God." I looked over
and Luna had her mouth wide open and was angling for just the right head
position to bite. You could tell she was looking to take a chunk out! I
said "Luna, NO!" just in time for her to bite down. Eh. Susan wasn't
hurt, just a little embarrassed. We got a good laugh.

Of course, us laughing just encourages bad behavior. I guess, we are
going to have to work on training the mommy. Oh wait, I am trained....
never mind. :-)

Dooks to all and peace, health, and happiness to all the fuzzies of the
world (and their mommies and daddies too)
