I'm happy to say that Hershey's condition turned out not to be
serious; just a case of vestibulitis or an ear infection, and
she's doing much better.  The weight loss appeared to be just
because she hadn't been eating, and she's gaining it back now,
after a couple of days of hand feeding and TLC.  We're not sure
whether she stopped eating because she was too dizzy to grab food
from her bowl or because she just missed me, since she ate quite
ravenously when I held her.  She's on Tresaderm twice daily,
and her head is almost horizontal again.
 
Thanks to everyone who offered advice and support.  Kisses from Hersh,
too.
