So Kirsten ran into a problem trying to take from her screaming, yipping
ferret a tootsie roll.
 
Welcome to the club Kirsten and others who've not had such an experience
before.
 
You take a busy-ness of juvenile ferrets, especially juveniles, and into
their cage of 4 or 6 ferrets, throw 2 or 3 cooked chicken legs, and stand
away; because you will see and hear clamor the likes of which you've never
imagined your little kissy-likk'rs are capable.
 
They are God's greediest creatures you've ever witnessed: They screetch,
scream and yip at each other in voices that are surprisingly loud and really
intense.  They want each to eat in private and absolutely will not share if
they can help it.  One could say, in effect, they've become mad.
 
It is precisely for this reason that the "old-wives-tale" exists, to wit:
 
Don't ever give your ferrets meat (chicken); why?  'cause it'll make them
mean!  Yep ... that's surely true; at least for the period of time they're
fighting each other over their precious tidbits.  After the little bellies
are full, there you go, right back to being your loved kissy-likkers.
 
So Kirsten, the experience you've had with your ferret sounds just that:
she's just a greedy little sucker, and there ain't nothin' medically wrong
with that, to my way of thinking.  She's absolutely normal to want her own
way . . . as all women do.  And, you know, they usually get it too.
