Here's a story for you folks,
 
The first ferret I worked with at Cornell belonged to one of the large
animal clinicians.  He had two ferrets trained to "mouse" in his horse barn.
These happy fuzzies went out the door of the house each morning, went to the
barn for the day, then returned to the house to get dinner!
 
BTW, the ferret we were working on had been stepped on by one of the horses,
and had a diaphragmatic hernia.  The repair went well, and she went right
back to work after her recovery.
 
These little dudes never cease to be amazing.
