Kristen and other interested readers,
 
Many of my clients like to treat their cats to dairy products, which has the
same unfortunate side effect as in ferrets - diarrhea.  I have found that
yogurt and frozen yogurt products (not chocolate!) are a well-received
substitute, without the bad results.
 
Also, yogurt works well for mixing crushed pills before getting them into
stubborn ferrets.
