Hi. I wrote just last week about my ferret Jitterbug having blood in her
poop. She was taken to the vets last Friday, and was given Septra to take
2 x a day, 1 cc each time. She had been doing very well, until last night
on Christmas. Around 7:00pm, I thought I heard her choking so I went to
my room and found that she was vomiting. This is the second time she has
vomited, because it first happened several weeks ago. She must have
vomited atleast 6 times within a few minutes, and then laid down in her
hammock. I let her out of the cage to see how she would act, and she was
completely normal. She played on my bed for about 30 minutes, and I put
her back into her clean cage and she slept in her hammock. Being
Christmas, there was no way to contact our veterinarian and we kept an eye
on her all night.

Well, this morning when I got her out of her cage she was not as excited to
come out. She always hops around and does her dance, but this morning she
was unusually calm. She had also not eaten any food since vomiting, even
though I returned her food to her a few hours after the episode. We gave
her the Septra, and she ate her Furovite, but she would not accept her
favorite Kaytee treat. She only drank a little water out of the dog's
bowl. Later I noticed that she had diarrhea in her litter pan, with a dark
brown mucus discharge in it. This happened another 3 times. She didn't
even come out of her sleepingbag when I called her name. So we called the
vets, and rushed her over there.

The vet examined her, and decided that she should stay there to recuperate.
He said that he would administer liquids introveniously, and give her some
Barium to calm her. He put her in an incubator to warm her up, and will
give us news if her condition changes.

As you can imagine, we all all very concerned, especially considering that
she is only 7 months old and having all of these problems. So we're all
praying that she will be alright, and I'd appreciate any feedback on this
subject.
