I have contacted Dr. Bruce Williams, ferret expert veterinary pathologist
who says this:

>The amyloid can be confirmed with a Congo Red stain fairly easily -
>and renal amyloid is uncommon (though not unheard of in ferrets.)
>Pathologists not common with aging changes in ferret kidneys can easily
>mistake senescent glomeruli for amyloidosis, so the use of a Congo red
>stain is a difinite must. Additionally, I would want to see a clinical
>proteinuria, as well as evidence of lots of protein accumulation in the
>tubules.
>
>I would like to know more about whether a Congo red was done, and what
>was the pattern of deposition of amyloid - glomerular, interstitial,
>vascular, or just what.

Hope that helps you and i hope that your Spring is lovely.
