Animals taken from house up for adoption

The owner of the more than 100 animals found at a home at 9504 E.
Independence Friday has signed them over to the Independence Animal
Shelter.

Aimee Wells, animal control manager, said she has 82 cats, eight dogs and
two ferrets up for adoption that came from the house. Three dogs and one
cat were euthanized due to bad health.

The three birds and one pig have been adopted.

Police and animal control officers were called to the home Friday after
a call came in saying there was a bad smell coming from the house. The
home was inspected and shut down.

The shelter is at 875 Vista near Missouri 291 and Truman Road.
