Sukie and the Brain

Seriously.

Wolfy enjoys neurophysiology studies, astronomy stuff, some ecology
stuff, some taxonomy stuff. Becca tends to be modest about the part of
her that thinks for fun, that's all -- kind of a dainty fairy tiptoeing
with bells on her ankles through the FML when the Oracle isn't pushing
her. "Tip toe through the FM, through the FM, through the FML, oh, tip
toe when Oracle's gone..." . She's just more fun than i am -- well, a
lot more fun than I am. Me, well, I kind of
wolverine-with-a-toothache-bluster on through. I'll age (am aging) into
one of those brick wall matrons with a mantlepiece of marble who can
part the waves with a stern look. Too bad I am not a junior high school
teacher... ;-) Then again, I had a 6th grade teacher like that: Mrs.
Truell in Setauket in the early 60s and she was the kindest, best, most
moral teacher I think I ever had before college. Stern, yes, but a kid
in need of support never could find a better friend than she was, and she
would stand up to parents even to the point of making sure that a child
could have some play time -- not just do the school work, and she would
stand up to anyone else, too, to help a child. I will love the memory of
that woman till the day i die. it would be so cool if i wind up somewhat
like her.
