Dear Lars
From my experience, which is extremely limited, minks are basically the same
as ferrets but you'll want to research this matter further. My Opa
(grandpa) had minks when I was a little girl. He was a forester and had
many animals that at that time were considered exotic and/or wild (snow owl,
foxes, deer, porcupines and, etc.) which he rehabilitated for release or
cared for if they were permanantly disabled. We used to play with them when
we stayed with them and I was never bitten (hard) just nibbled. However,
these minks had been hand reared by him from a very young age so I'm sure
that the fact that he was the only mother they ever knew/remembered and they
were VERY small when he got custody of them had A LOT to do with it. Good
Luck!

Sincerely,
        Irena...Lucy's mom
