Kristen,
We have a couple of snorkling ferrets to that used to love to watch the fish
swim by, from the fishes point of view.  They never tried to grab the fish,
just watch.  The fish didn't much care for being the center of attention.  It
died.
 
The Bitter Apple is one of those things that works well if you can put it on
something that the ferret actually puts its mouth on.  They *hate* the taste
(most of them anyway.)  The smell doesn't seem to deter them much.
