Does anyone know of anything that can cause a ferret to pass large amounts
of mucus in its stool?

My cousin's ferret that I have been sitting for a couple of months is
bright-eyed and bushy tailed, active and seems to be fine EXCEPT for the
mucus in his stool. Sometimes he just passes a large lump of mucus with no
stool at all.

The only change in his regimen has been that I took him off "Special Kitty"
that his owner was feeding and put him on Nutro's Adult Cat Food (32%
Protein). He also got into my cat's bowl of Science Diet W/D formula
(prescription for stomach problems), but he only ate a couple of teaspoons
of that.

This mucus thing has gone on for about a week now with no change.

Thanks in advance.
