Thanks Melissa for adding to the ways to protect electric cords from
ferrets.  I may put a piece of shower rod cover around some of the
multitude of cords coming out of the power strip.
 
I must say though that they just aren't making shower rod covers like they
used to.  We use those as toppers on our barricaids.  They usually keep the
ferrets from getting a grip on the edge and hoisting themselves into new
territory.  Over the weekend I bought a new one at K-Mart and it's a poor
quality.  Over a shower rod it might be just fine, but stretched onto the
square edge of 1 inch thick laminate, it developed a crease.  My other
shower rod covers are smooth, inside and out but this one has a textured
surface on the inner part.  So beware of cheap immitations of shower rod
covers!
