I wouldn't be concerned about the copper but if it was soldered there is a
very strong risk of lead contamination in the water from the solder.
 
Soldered pipes in homes are a major source of lead in drinking water and
that is from just flowing through.  Sitting and recycling would increase
the lead concentration.
