We were scheduled to get vaccinations for our guys today. So, last
night, we notice that Fezzik has all of the sudden developed this HUGE
cyst, right near his rear end. (Nice of him to get it right before a vet
visit, eh?) Anyway, its some sort of infection, but its a weird place for
it. I can't see how he could have gotten hurt down there - certainly a
weird location for a bite wound. It's the right place for an anal gland
problem - but, 1.) he's descented, and nearly 2 years old, so had the job
been botched I'd have expected problems when he was younger, and 2). no
odor. None. Which sure doesn't sound right for a gland problem. Anyway,
he's on amoxi, and we're going back in in a week. Anyone had something
like this before? There were absolutely no signs of a wound, and a lot of
the swelling was internal. We had wondered if it was a spider bite, but
its not acting like it.
So, Fez didn't have his shots after all. Shadow and Falstaff did. And
Shadow got sick. Pretty minor (well, she vomited a lot, and was quite
unhappy, but nothing life threatening yet). That was weird, also. She's 4
and a half, and she's never had problems before. No changes in her
vaccines, either. I had figured that by this late in life she was unlikely
to start having problems.

Sigh. At least one ferret is currently fine....
