Ferrets are also illegal in Hawaii.  This is one state where this is
probably a good idea though.  Many of the native species have either
been made extinct or severely impacted by the (often well intentioned)
introduction of foreign species.  My ferret came to me in a sort of
round-a-bout way; originally brought here by someone from a mainland
college who found they could not keep them at home when they returned.
I received her indirectly through a third person.  Actually, I would
consider putting her up for adoption to a good home in some ferret-legal
state if I could be sure that animal quarantine here would allow her to
be sent to a destination of my choice.
