I recently (Friday) got a new ferret from Path Valley Farms. My 15
month old ferret Nutmeg now has all of the symptoms of ECE (still in the
diarrhea stage). Info from the various ferret health documents that
this is not uncommon for new kits to be carrying the infection. However,
Nutmeg infected another ferret (now deceased) with ECE when she arrived
as a kit from Path Valley. The ferret health documents seem to indicate
that once a ferret is infected, that they don't get the disease again.
Therefore I thought that she would be "safe" if I brought another ferret
in.

So assuming that she is infected now, is this a second round of the
infection or was she just a carrier and therefore not infected as a
kit?

Any ideas?

Nutmeg is fairing much better than my previous ferret with ECE, she is
drinking on a regular basis by her own, although I'm not sure if she is
eating on her own (so she getting fed chicken and gravy baby food).
