[This post cosmetically edited after FML distribution.]
I get a lot of e-mails from people asking what program I use to edit my
videos that I have links to on the web. Though there's lots of fancy
(and expensive) programs out there I simply use the movie program that
comes with Windows XP - Windows Movie Maker.

It's super simple to use plus has a lot of cool effects and features.
Using my digital camcorder (mine's the Sony DCR TRV340 from a few years
ago) I capture" clips of whatever I've recorded via USB right into Movie
Maker. Then I plug the clip into the "timeline", add titles, credits,
etc.

You can add audio as well - like when I did my "monster movie" - www
ferretocious.com/movies/monsters1.wmv Even cooler is it lets you overlap
sound clips - hence, the two "monsters" fighting that are actually
individual clips just slightly overlapped. Also has all the standard
video effects such as adjusting the brightness, slowing the speed, etc,
etc.

Now get out there and start filming - and send me YOUR creations! A
friend of mine is revamping my web page and we'll have a "theatre"
full of movies - both mine and "guest film makers"

Anyone want popcorn??
