Congratulations all around today:

>Ferrets 2002 Symposium Award Winners:
>
>Christopher Bennett: the FHL, shelter, and club work
>
>Troy Lynn Eckart: the many rescues, shelter, education, and major rescue
>coordination work
>
>Jeanne Carley: the CA legislation efforts, education work, and protection
>for illegal ferrets in CA

and the fine symposium workers who made this a reality with their very
hard work!

Congratulations also to Alicia whose legislation to prevent transport and
sale of ferrets younger than 8 weeks old made it through her state house's
committee today BY UNANIMOUS VOTE, despite there not being enough people
working on this effort (YET).

It is so great reading about such successes, and reading them in a success
like the FML which is extremely unusual among groups for its sheer size
and longevity of nearly 15 years! Thank you, Bill. Congratulations to
you, too, on a job well done!

P.S. It was so great to hear the incredible news from Alicia after
wondering all day how it turned out -- so fine to see hard work, logical
approaches, and careful planning pay off! Now, if folks can band
together to make sure that it passes the votes when it goes to floor, to
any Senate committee(s), and to the governor there...
