Yesterday Nidia <[log in to unmask]> wrote:
PLEASE HELP ME HELP A FRIEND IN TROBLE HE'S IN A SHELTER POSSIBLY GOING TO
BE DESTROYED

Update:
Nidia lives in California and had called the local humane society about her
neighbor who was beating his dog. The neighbor reported Nidia's ferret,
Spanky, who was confiscated. To make matters worse, the humane society
employee told Nidia the ferret would be killed. Fortunately, that is no
longer California policy, and Spanky will be sent to a shelter out of
state. But Nidia has lost her beloved pet by trying to help an abused dog.
Wake up, California policymakers!

And for those of us who don't live in CA or other FFZs, something to be
grateful for on Thanksgiving...living in an area where ferrets are legal.

For anyone who wants to write to Ann Landers about her recent column on
ferrets in Calif, here is the address:

Ann Landers, P.O. Box 11562, Chicago, IL 60611-0562.

Ann Landers admits if she feels she made a mistake, and often publishes
letters giving the other side of the story. This is a very good
opportunity to help get national coverage about the situation in
California.
