"Bugsy Malone was found in someone's yard covered with fleas and filthy
and could barely walk," said Kim Kelly of Stinky Pete's Ferret Retreat
in Florida. The people who found him gave him a good bath, fed him and
made sure he had water and a warm bed, but when Kim picked him up she
was "just horrified (by) this little soul's condition. He was skin and
bones, coarse hair, very lethargic with several scratches and puncture
wounds on him. His left eye was barely open and his right eye wasn't
open at all. He also had a pretty bad congestion sound to him." She
gave him subcutaneous fluids, antibiotics and lots of TLC. It was
difficult to feed him, though, because "his congestion seemed to get
the better of him". At the vet clinic, his chest x-ray looked clear
and his lungs and heart sounded fine. The vet did find a lot of blood
build up behind his lid, probably caused by trauma, and probably quite
painful. The lens was most likely displaced. "As you can see in the
picture", (see our website to view picture) Kim said after a week of
intensive treatment, "he has lost his sight in that eye but the doctor
feels that eventually the eye will shrink in size and probably not
cause him any problems. Bugsy also has a cleft palate! That, not a
laceration or puncture wound, was the cause of his chronic and severe
congestion.

Your purchase of raffle tickets went to help poor little Bugsy Malone
get the help he needed to survive. It's just that easy - buy a ticket,
