My 5 1/2 yr. old sable female lost a top fang this summer after she broke
out of her cage and decided to chomp my geriatric male. After reading
about someone else's ferret with a similar problem needing their bottom
fang filed down because it was rubbing up top I thought I'd take another
look at Smokey. ( I do this regularily anyway) Well what to my wondering
eyes should appear, but her other top fang was partially broken off and was
bent over and being held in by a piece of her gum and her bottom fangs. I
eventually was able to remove the tooth, with the aid of a chopstick and
some Linatone with no complications. I whipped up some duck soup for her.
I'm keeping an eye on the wound site, but in the meantime....

Are there any major problems I need to be aware of with a ferret with no
upper canines? I will be watching her closely, but was wondering if any
of you had any words of wisdom?

Thanks in advance,
Lara and Smokey (now the Pug)
