Hi All,
Well I have a couple questions for you.

First off, I have two ferrets (1 male, 1 female) and they are driving my
nuts. I started off with one litter box in the cage, then shortly after
I aquired Romeo, I had to add a second litter box right next to the first
because one of them wouldn't use it. I'm pretty sure that was because
they don't like to use the exact same spot if the other one has gone
there first (weird) so now the left hand side of the cage on the bottom
level is just two litter boxes, okay that worked for a while, but then
they started using corners on the upper levels.. AHHHHHHHHH.. so now
I've got 3 litter boxes in the cage. Two on the bottom, and one on the
upper level. Then, they started using the other corner on the same
level!!!! So, I cleaned the cage and scrubbed the corners etc. with a
bleach/water solution and moved the litter box to that corner and added
a bunch of bedding to the other. They haven't gone on the bedding yet
(tho they have before)..but now they've dug the one litter box on the
bottom, out of it's corner and have pooped in the corner and on the
cardboard that i had as a high back (the litter box is a small cat box,
no high back on one side, so i used cardboard.) I am on my last leg here.
I've tied that litter box to the cage with shoe laces and I'm about to
go nuts! I know ferrets like levels, and i just bought them this cage
not too long ago, but if they're going to insist on pooping everywhere
they're going to find themselves in a really tall cage with no levels and
a litter box in every corner.. and bedding on the bottom of the cage.
I really don't want to do that. So short of putting a litter box in all
10 corners of this cage (can't afford to do that anyway).. what can I
do??? Also, what kind of clips can I use to keep the litter boxes
attached to the side of the cage? I've got one safety pined and one is
one of those new long john rounded corner pans with attached clips.. but
the rectangular blue one doesn't have clips. I've tried those "cage
clips" but they rip off in about 2 weeks. I've tried tieing it with
string. Any suggestions would be helpful. I can't afford a really
pricey fix either, i just spent a bundle on food, litter, and bio odor.
So something under 10 dollars would be really helpful.

Okay my next question... with all this talk about melatonin ... i
remember my mom takes that or at least has it in her cabinet. here
is exactly what she has:

Schiff Sleep Support
Melatonin Nighttime formula
3 mg

Per tablet there is:
10mg of Vit. b6 (as pyridoxine hydrochloride)
86mg of Calcium (as calcium carbonate)
3mg of Melatonin

Other Ingredients:
Maltodextrin, cellulose, coating (titanium dioxide, dextrose,
hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, polyethylene glycol, sodium
carboxymethylcellulose, mineral oil, sodium citrate, polysorbate 80
and dextrin), croscarmellose sodium and magnesium stearate.

Is this something I could give to my ferrets? if so, how much and how
often? I really haven't been keeping too close an eye on all the posts
about. If someone could just give me a quick run down about it all
that'd be very appreciated!

Have a great fuzzy day all!
- Jules
