Our shelter and household has been on a strict Totally Ferret diet for more
than 2 years. There is no unwelcome odor from this food.

I believe the food you are referring to is the Marshall's Premium food.
They use herring meal as a key ingredient in the food. This is smelly (
fishy) in the bowl, in the litterbox and I swear they ( the ferrets eating
it) give off a body odor which seems heavier when on this diet.

I have also got an openbag of Mazuri in the shelter -- and do not find it
offensive either.... of course there is an air cleaner running! If you are
this odor sensitive to a mainly chicken / poultry based food I would
recommend that you pace it into a plastic tub with an airtight lid, this
should help immensely!

I hope this answers the question for you.
