Very correct.  The real issue isn't that the ferrets are going to die in
the time that they are in the pet store but that customers will get the
wrong idea about proper care.  If the store does a good job otherwise and
explains that pine chips are not proper housing they can fix the
mis-impression.  Though another answer is aspen shavings.  They are not
the problem pine is.

So its something to be concerned about but not because the ferretw ill be
dying imminently.
