Keith--

In regards to letting ferret "drop" off your shoulder in order to train
him/her to stay-on (shoulder sitting), this is not such a hot idea.

While ferrets do tend to land feet-first a-la-cats, sometimes they don't.
Unless you are fairly short, a bad landing could, quite literaly, break your
little on
e's neck. Only use this technique if you let them drop over, say, a large
trash can filled with soft material or a floor full of pillows.

Grass and carpet are much too hard....ferrets are rugged, but not
indestructible!
