We recently switched Baldrick from a water bowl (which he loves to tip
over) to a water bottle. He uses it all right, in fact he seemed to know
what it was for just as soon as we got it set up. It seemed a lot more
obvious how much (or little) he's been drinking -- as far as I can
estimate, the bottle is down about a half-liter in a week. I was worried
about this, but then I realized he doesn't really spend much time in his
cage where the bottle is, and when he is there he's usually asleep anyway.
Most of the time, he drinks out of the cats' bowl and plays in running
water wherever he can find it. He has bright eyes and a lot of energy.
(He's about 15 weeks).

It just started me thinking, and I couldn't remember reading in the FAQ
how much water per day a ferret requires. I think I read something about
gently pinching the scruff; I tried this and it doesn't really seem to
stick that way much.  It can be dangerous for anybody to get dehydrated;
if anybody has information or advice regarding this, I'd appreciate it.

+ Baldrick (who wants to vote for whichever candidate supports increased
raisin production)
