Have you considered going to a shelter. Most of the time we have gently
used items available at greatly reduced prices, including cages, dishes,
water bottles, toys, bedding, leashes/harnesses/collars, grooming items,
carriers, & even open bottles of shampoo. Cages that are in poor
conditions & litter boxes that cannot be cleaned adequately are discarded.
I do not sell items that I wouldn't use on my own ferrets or my fosters.
Many ferrets come into foster care w/all of their supplies. And of course,
if there's an item that's special to a ferret, like my foster Barrett's
Elmo stuffed toy that he wraps himself around, they get to keep them. I
do keep what I need for the fosters, but I can only use so many cages &
supplies.

Don't forget we have LOTS of foster ferrets too. Most of the time they're
the same pet store ferrets, just a little older. The benefit is that we
already know what their personality & habits are - no guesswork. You also
don't have to deal w/the baby nippy stage. And every time you purchase
something from a rescue you're benefiting the homeless fosters in our care.

You've made an excellent decision to wait until your spring break before
acquiring your fuzzy family. You'll have plenty of time to prepare & get
everything you need. Then you can relax & get to know each other.

Good luck
