with your first ferret it is actually best not to get a kit.  i know that
sounds disappointing, but adult ferrets tend to have a better temperment
and (if trained of course) dont nip/bite.
 
i suggest getting one from a shelter.  there are SO many ferrets out there
who need homes, and if they come from shelters, they are most likely
trained.
