Alice, ferret ownership is not illegal in SC. Selling ferrets is, even
though the state seems to turns a blind eye to pet shops who sell carriers
for $100-150 that happen to have ferrets in them.
You might try Dr. Rosemarie Asterino of Clinton Animal Hospital in Clinton
(864-833-2487). I haven't had any personal experience w/her other than a
very nice discussion when we hosted a table at the Humane Society pet fair
in Greenwood. I've recommended a few people Dr. Asterino & they're very
happy w/her both personally & professionally.
If you're looking for a companion for Lucy & can do a day trip, we're not
