Since ferrets are preditors, I would assume that they would actually be
more likely to repell rats than attract them, of course rats could be drawn
by food, but this would be no different than the food in you cabnets.  I
have even heard of people using dirty ferret bedding to put in crawl spaces
to repell rodents.
