yes!!
3 of my 'downstairs' guys, Ralphie, Harry, and Merlin, lost a ton of hair
this summer (a first) and then grew it back.  Merlin and Prince Charming
(DEW and albino) have the thickest coats I've ever seen.
 
My upstairs fuzzies don't seem much different.
 
I'd buy an extra snow shovel...
