Help! Carpet Shark....

Ok, my ferret is a total carpet shark.  I have carpet in her cage that I
have to replace about every month.  She seems to tear at the carpet at
night, so I cage her.  The "scratching" at the carpet is so annoying at
night, all you can hear it echoing throughout the house.
 
Any suggestions would be helpful.
