Hi...
In FML 515 I read...
>This brings the infamous Ferret-Free Zone down to just four states:
>California, Massachusetts, Michigan and Hawaii. Plus the nebulous status
>in New York City and Washington, D.C. I understand the case in California
>has been delayed again.

Many of you are probibly tired of this subject but I'll bring it up
again...

What is the status of ferrets in California and what is the current
delay? I own a ferret and live in the SF bay area and need to know
what I can do to help legalize ferrets (without having the Fish and
Game feds at my door looking for my pets). My biggest concern is that
every time I move I have to find a new vet, most of which won't even
talk to me and those that do help, do it very reluctantly
(even though they advertise they treat exotic mammals).

I know the state is full of Ferrets, many of which probibly do not
recieve proper vet attention due to fear. When in Reno, Nevada where
I got mine I was told that 50 or more ferrets are sold weekly in that one
town alone (99% of which go to California according to the store
owner). That's over 2500 ferrets a year, not counting Las Vegas ,
Oregon, Arizona or any other source of Californian ferrets. I have yet
to meet another college student that does not know someone who owns a
ferret or owns one themselves. Does anyone have a better count of
how many ferrets there are in Calif?

One last question, we're planning on getting a second ferret in the
next month or so and would like to adopt. Are there any shelters in
Nevada (the Reno/ Lake Tahoe area perferably)? From what I've seen,
the chance there is a shelter in that area are slim, but I thought I'd ask.

Thanks...
