Had to add my two cents here to this discussion too - I have three females,
all three of which use the litterbox 100% in their huge four story
condo-cage, but once free-roaming in my house that changes.  Sammy is still
about 90-100% and she will seek out the litterboxes (sometimes goofs and
goes right next to them, though), Casey is about 70% accurate and will
usually only use the "floating" boxes when she knows I'm watching (she's a
treat hog!) :) and Jasmine is only about 35% accurate outside of the cage-
she likes to go wherever she feels like it.  Overall I feel I'm pretty
lucky....
