Hi everyone, I am new to this mailing list but enjoy every note.  I need
some help with a reoccurring problem.
 
I had ECE go through my house about a month ago.  All of mine got through
just fine I thought.  I have a 2 1/2 year old male that became sick the
beginning of last week.  His stools were always grainy since he had the ECE
but he was acting normal and eatting like he should.  So I didn't think much
about it, until a week ago Wednesday.  I noticed that he was not being very
social and would get out of his cage and then go hide.  He won't eat or
drink.  My son took him to the vet and they hydrated him, then again on
Friday.  I fed him Pedilyte every 30-45 minutes for 24 hours(my wonderful
husband was up with me everytime).  We started him on some medicine but he
still wouldn't eat or drink unless we force fed him.  He was not getting any
better, so I call another vet that was helping my regular vet out since she
is on vacation.  We start Smokey on Amoxicillin, Flagyl, and Pepto.  He
seemed to perk up the within the next 24 hours, even ate a little dry food
and drank water out of the bottle.  He only had one firm stool and now if is
back to being loose and very grainy.
 
What can I do next?  He had test and nothing grew, so he is not infectious
to the others at least.  I am really worried that we can't get rid of the
grainy stools.  I know that he is not digesting the duck soup that I feed
him so he is very thin, thinner than he was before he got sick.
 
If anyone has suggestions, I would be forever greatful.

PS: Thanks everyone for helping out our friend Smokey...we don't like it
when he won't come out and play with the rest of us.  We really miss him
sleeping with us too!
