I changed the format just a little for the FML so you don't have to worry
about whether the columns line up properly. Now, you'll see the states
listed in this format:

State   >Q1   >Q2   >Q3   >Q4
           >contact/source info.

If a question has no answer for a particular state, you'll still see the '>'
marking that question's place. Hope this is easy for everyone to read; BIG
did a masterful job of formatting last time & I don't want to put him
through that again! <g> As you'll notice, there are still states missing.
I think some of us are duplicating the collection of this info - can we get
together and pool the information?

(Again, I want to caution everyone - just because the STATE law says
"quarantine" or "risk analysis" doesn't mean that LOCAL officials will be
aware of the law, or follow it as they should. And, various municipalities
within the state could interpret the laws in different ways, or have added
regulations on top of the state regs. Nor does it mean that the regulations
won't change in the future. DON'T take this survey as "the bottom line" for
your state, for these reasons. Do use it as a potential starting point for
talking to your local officials.)

1. Does the state recognize the IMRAB-3 vaccine as being effective for
ferrets?
        Y = yes                 N = No                 X = hasn't ruled
2. Do they require the rabies vaccination for ferrets, or is it up to the
owner?
        R = required           O = optional
3. Do they allow quarantine, or does the law say kill-and-test in any bite
situation?
        Q = quarantine allowed (# of days)
        K = automatic kill-and-test
        A = no quarantine; may require a signed affidavit to prevent testing
        D = depends on the county
        L = risk analysis, in accordance with current CDC guidelines
4. If quarantine is allowed, are there any conditions attached - such as,
must be vaccinated, not a stray, etc. - and can quarantine be in-home under
certain conditions?
        C = no conditions
        V = must be vaccinated
        S = not stray
        H = at home allowed if certain conditions met
        J = judged on a case by case basis - ferrets may be unregulated in
            this state
        D = depends on the county
5. Contact info - name, address, phone and/or fax #, etc, for the source of
the info. If available, the date/bill #/etc of any legislation that affects
this.
